Overview

Copper concentrate is a fine, dark-colored powder produced by mineral processing plants through the concentration of copper ore.

During this process, the copper grade is increased from around 0.5% to approximately 25–30%, depending on the ore and processing method.

Copper concentration involves physically and chemically separating copper-bearing minerals, such as chalcopyrite and bornite, from waste rock. The concentrate is an intermediate product that contains copper along with sulfur, iron, and other impurities. It is neither raw ore nor pure metal and is mainly used as feed for smelting and further copper processing.
